Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am just wondering, my boyfriend has been divorced before. He now pays child support. We have been together for five years now, and are thinking about taking the next step to marriage. I am Curious I make great money. Can she ever take him for my money? Can his child support be increased due to our combined income, or is it just his income? If it matters at all, their divorce took place in Florida, and we live in Texas. I would appreciate any Insight on this. Thank you very much!

Here are a few tips:
1. Do a pre-nup and post-nup. You need both!
2. Do your taxes separately.
3. Never open any joint accounts of any kind.
4. Keep all assets and debts separate - basically act as if you are still single.
5. If she attempts to take him back for an increase in child support if you have co-mingled anything, then all of your personal info is discoverable. If she can show that you are supporting him, then she can "try" to show that his income is available to support his child over and above the usual guidelines.
Since his case is in FL you would need a FL attorney. TX law would not apply in this case.
I don't know FL law. I'm only licensed to practice in TX.
If you want more info, I charge $150/hour to discuss this matter in greater depth with you.
I can't tell where you live based on your zip code.
I don't handle private clients these days. I only do consultations and mediations. I can refer you to an attorney for a pre nup.
