Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Two yrs ago I did a collaborative divorce (at the insistance of my ex because it would be 'best' for the family). BIG MISTAKE!

I just tried to get the child support increased (the attorney general office said he is making substantially more money since the divorce) and they told me because of THAT kind of divorce I cannot get it increased! We both shared 1/2 custody of our youngest son, who was 11 at the time and part-time with our daughter that was 16 then. I rec'd $260/mo only because both lawyers and financial advisor said that's all he could afford at the time. What choice did I have? How can I get this increased? I make less than $30K a yr. Not sure I can use Legal Aid of NW Texas unless I'm dirt poor it seems. Any suggestions? I left because he was emotionally abusing me, controlling me and verbally abusing me. He's also a master manipulator. There's more, but I just need to know what to do with the child support---there are 5 years left on the support. I was not told by my lawyer that if I go through with this type of divorce it would hurt my chance of increasing child support down the road. I feel I was gravely misinformed! That lawyer is not much help now and I don't trust her!

I suggest that you stop talking to the Attorney General and go visit a real lawyer. And you might want to read section 156.401 of the Texas Family Code.
