Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

how do we appeal a judgement from small claims court

We filed a case with small claims court for $4800. We were awarded $1700. This amount is not enough to cover our actual damamges. How do we appeal? What are the costs involved and since it will go to a higher court will we have to hire a lawer? we did not on the small claim court case. The case was for the cost of a defective septic system on a house we had purchased.

Re: how do we appeal a judgement from small claims court

You need to file an appeal bond in Small Claims within 10 days from the date of rendition of the judgment. That will bring it up to county court where you will need a lawyer.

If you miss the 10-day window, it will be too late to appeal.
