Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
I was arrested for felony theft - I do not have the citation but my docu read "theft - $1500- $20K"
I was bonded out for $200 as my bond was $2,000. I have absolutely no idea what the citation
reads, if I will pay restitution, if I have a chance of going to jail, etc. Can you help me? Would it
be very expensive to hire an atty - I am retired and my husband is unemployed - and I lost the right
to have an atty appointed to me when I was bonded out.
Thank you

You DID NOT lose the right to hire an attorney when you bonded out of jail.
If you are indigent then you have the right to a court appointed attorney.
You should contact local criminal defense lawyers to try to get some representation.
Good Luck!
Based on what you have written, generally in Harris and surrounding couties; if you bond out the determination is that you have the ability to afford counsel. You may still have the ability to have the Court appoint counsel to represent you, but you will have to approach the Court.
As for the costs associated with private counsel, each and every law firm has various ways of gathering fees associated with representation. You should consult with a local law firm to discuss options available to you for representation.
