Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

My boyfriend and I have lived with a friend for thepast year and we have just moved out because of misc. reasons regarding living conditions and roomates attitude and his anger issues. Now there was never a contract or any legal agreement on rent or utilites. For the last year we have been paying in thirds up until the last month when our roomates had some other girl move in and did no have to pay anything. We left onthe 1st and obviously not going to pay rent. The problem is a roomates fAmily is harassing us to pay our part of last months electricity and even though we should we don't want to after the months of him ripping us off and having people live there for free..... They are threatening tocall their lawyer, but what can they do, there was never an official contract ? I really appriciate the help

Ignore their threats, and don't talk to them anymore. If you get a phone call form them, tell them you will communicate with them only in writing, and HANG UP THE PHONE. I'll bet you $100 they never sue you.

99% of the time when people say they are going to "call their lawyer" it's an empty threat.
