Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Car title

In June 2006, I purchased a used Volvo from a used car dealer for my son. I paid cash for the car plus all fees (TT&L). I still have not recieved the title for the car. I have been in contact with the dealer repeatedly. He has always told me the title has been lost, and that he was taking care of it, but it just keeps dragging on. The cars registration sticker has been expired for months, and I can't get a new sticker without the title- which leaves my son open to being stopped & ticketed by the police (which has already happened once).

I need to know if there is anything I can legally do to get the dealer to either come up with the title, or take the car back and refund my money?

Re: Car title

You need to make a complaint to the Texas Department of Transportation and file a complaint with the police. The dealer has violated a criminal law by not delivering title to the vehicle. Good Luck

Adding to Mr. Grissom's answer, contact the Commisioner of Motor Vehicles and make a claim against the dealer's bond for failure to deliver good title.
