Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Someone caught shoplifting $50 item from a major discount store; merchandise returned to store. Person went to jail, paid complete fine, court closed case. However, person rec'd a settlement letter from atty on behalf of establishment where theft took place. Settlement offer of $550.00 made. If settlement pymt not made client may decide to pursue civil claim in court. What is probability of client choosing to pursue in court if person does not pay settlement offer?
Person who was charged does not have money, is on disability and cannot pay this fee. Thank you for your response.

He should completely ignore this silly letter. Don't respond, don't say yes, don't say no, don't tell them to go to hell. Ignore this letter. They aren't going to sue him.
