Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Civil litigation or civil rights

Our child was the victim of slander in a public school system. An aynonomous tip gave the principal false information. While investigating the rumor, the principal gave our childs name and the allegded act to other students and teachers as fact. As a result, our child is the subject of harassing petitions in the school as well as trying to disburse the rumors as false in a hostile enviroment. Do we have a civil case against the principal or school system or is this a violation of civil privacy rights of a minor? Thank you

Re: Civil litigation or civil rights

You will have to discuss the matter with a civil rights attorney that's dealt with school systems. Aside from the possible civil rights problems, you also have problems of sovereign immunity from lawsuits held by governmental entities, and the qualified immunity that may be involved on the part of the principal.
