Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

what are the consequences for...

if a judgement falls in favor of the plaintiff but the defendent fails to

pay, what kind of consequences, if any, do they face? does it

appear on any kind of his/her legal records (i.e. credit report or

other personal records). or would it be easy for them to continue

not to pay and get away with it? thanks.

Re: what are the consequences for...

The judgment goes on their credit record. The abstract of judgment is a lien upon their real property. They can seize bank accounts, or seize and sell other non-exempt property.

The judgment is good for 10 years. Then they can resuscitate the judgment for another 10, and keep going until it's paid.
