I recently got engaged to a girl and I presented her an engagement ring. The relationship did not last and now I want the ring back (worth $2000) but she refuses to return it to me. Legally speaking, what ground do I have to stand on, to get the ring back from her?

Slim and none. Gifts like engagement rings are a complete transfer of property and usually final. Try to be more careful next time.
