Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Forgotten Garage Sale

A woman, accompanied by a friend spent $220 on some of my garage sale items well over a month ago and assured me that she would retrieve said items within the next week, however here they continue to sit. She has my contact information, however I do not have hers. As I'm sure you can understand, one of the main objectives of a garage sale is to rid your environment of items that are taking up SPACE. How long am I legally obligated to hold onto these things? Is there a time period after which I can re-sell the items without having to reimburse the original buyer? Thank you so very much for your assistance.

Re: Forgotten Garage Sale

You are in the awkward position of holding someone else's property in bailment. You can charge a reasonable fee for storage, but you can't sell or otherwise get rid of the property.
