Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Foul Ball

My two sons ages 15 and 13, were in public softball park playing field hitting baseballs. Because the infield was being repaired and worked on by city park workers, they were in right field practicing hitting balls to left field. Outside of right field is the parking lot to the softball field were there was parked car.

My 13 year old hit foul ball the went out of the field and hit parked car.

My question is: am I liable for the damage of the parked car?

What is my potential exposure to this ?

Re: Foul Ball

Probably not, since the user of the parking lot had to assume some risk that a foul ball may cause some damage if you park by a ballfield.

A parent's potential exposure for negligent or deliberate damage caused by a child is $5,000.
