Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Giving A Gift...
I have committed to give a gift of monetary value based on an amount I would receive from an inheritance. I don't think I will be receiving the amount that was announced and I am asking if I am legally bound to still give that gift. If so, is there a way to back out of that commitment without legal fallout. Is there a way I can maybe give a smaller gift and explain that the amount I was going to receive was not the amount I would in fact receive. I know this sounds crazy but I thought I would ask. Thank you for taking my question.

Without more facts it is difficult to provide you a more clear response. Based on what you have stated, you may be liable for the stated total amount, if the receipient has made some form of obligation on the promise that you were going to give them this amount.
