Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

I got headbutted in the mouth buy my friends brother at their house we were noy fighting he just has anger problems and I was his target I didn't get a police report as of yet but when I went to the dentist today they told me it would be 3500-4000 dollers to fix the damage so I'm looking into the option of a lawsuit my question lies with a police report should and can I still get one a week later? I plan on this going to cort but value me and my friends relationship the brother is over 21 so will the court require a police report and can I still get one a week later? Thank you!

Forget the police report. Everything in it is hearsay (except for the parts of it that actually reflect what the policeman saw himself). Most of it isn't going to be good evidence in your civil suit.

The civil court (where you file the lawsuit) won't even ask about a police report.
