Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

HOA prohibition from parking on public street

Having recently bought a new home which required me to join the homeowners association, I was surprised that among the covenants was included a detailed section describing a general prohibition from parking on the public street. Exceptions are listed and include events such as parties or guests. However, no exceptions are made for the number of cars owned by the homeowner. Vehicles are simply to be parked in the garage or at least in the rear entry driveway. This becomes very difficult to comply with when among my five children, three are drivers with their own cars. Combined with the two cars shared by my wife and I, we have five cars to hide from public view. Essentially my question is can the HOA legally enforce (by fines, attorney fees, etc.) any portion of the HOA covenants which prohibits homeowner parking on the public street?

Re: HOA prohibition from parking on public street

They probably can't prohibit you from parking a vehicle on a public street, but they sure can make life miserable and expensive for you.
