Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Infringement?
There was a shooting in our town 17 years ago and a police officer died. My son's day care was caught in the crossfire. Every year on the anniversary I write a letter to the officer who died. I would like to put this collection of letters into a book with the story of that day and how it impacted me and my family and then donate any proceeds to the Police Memorial. Can I legally do this book or do I have to ask permission from anyone? I'm willing to use a fake name instead of the name of the officer who died but I would like to use it if I could since I have always considered him a hero.

Re: Infringement?
Ask permission from the officer's family about using his name. I expect they would be pleased to agree.
