Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Insurance liens

I was in an accident at work. I filed for my PIP and recieved approval but was told that that the workmans comp Insurance Co. has a lien on them in case of a further settlement. I have recieved nothing from my workmans comp Ins. stating anything about this lien, and none was filed with the court. Is there a law where an out of state Co. can do that. Also the Bus Co. that hit me went bankrupt. I'm just in need of the law or statute concerning this.

Re: Insurance liens

The WC statutes provide that WC claims will be subrogated to the proceeds of other settlements or insurance payments. This is a matter of public policy to keep WC premiums low for employers.
