Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Lawsuit

I'm trying to find out about a lawsuit that was filed in the 1980's. I have the plaintiff and the defendant's names. But have no other information. I ''assume'' the lawsuit was filed in Texas, but don't have any other information than that. Can anyone help point me in the right direction about how I would be able to access this information, preferably online? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Lawsuit

Contact the Plaintiff and Defendant. Or, you could call each of the clerks for the following courts:

All the Federal District Courts in Texas

All the District Courts for each of the counties in Texas

All the county clerks for each of the county courts in Texas.

Each of the justices of the peace (several in each county).

There is a Texas Almanac which might give you additional information.

Not knowing anything more than the names of the parties, you might try the counties with the largest populations first (Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Travis, Bexar). As the case could be in the early 80's, it might not be entered on the county computer but might be indexed on paper records. Of course, some lawsuits have the records sealed. Some records might be kept in different indices such as criminal, civil, family, probate, etc..., so you must make sure all the indicies are searched for each clerk.

Some counties have some information on the net, such as Denton County.

This seems like quite a bit of work on an assumption the suit was filed in Texas.

Go to my website at Hppt://www.reasonable-doubt.com and if you look under the governing behavior page you will find links to government pages in the North Central Texas area.
