legal age of liability

Are parents assets liable in the

event of an auto accident involving

their over 18 college student at fault ? The car and insurance are

in the parents name. How do you

protect the parents from liability?

When does the college student become liable?

Insurance should at least provide a defense. Since the car and insurance are in the parents' name they are the deep pockets and liable. While the college student is also liable, he's essentially judgment proof.

Both parent and student may be sued unless the insurance company can settle before a lawsuit.
