Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Liability for College Student Dependent Damages
If my 21 year old son is still my dependent (I pay college expenses and claim him on my taxes) can I be held liable for damages he causes in a car accident even if he is the only registered owner of the vehicle and has his own insurance?

Re: Liability for College Student Dependent Damages
Your son's insurance should cover the damages. If the damages exceed your son's policy limits AND the other side feels that your son has some assets, your son would be liable.

Your son is an adult, and solely responsible for any damages he may cause. His dependency is strictly limited for purposes of taxes or insurance.
