Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Missing Car Stereo

I had my car towed to a repair shop because something was wrong with the starter. After a week the car was "ready" .When I came to pick up the car I asked how much I owed, wrote the check he handed me the keys and had me sign a reciept which stated he was not responsible for damages or theft. As I got into my car I noticed the glove box open and my cd player and all of my C.D's gone about $500.00 worth and I have the receipts for it all.I asked the shop owner what happened he immediatly said my insurance does not cover that.I saw no Visible signs that stated he was not responible, only the recipt after the repair and he was paid.I had not even seen the car in a week.

Re: Missing Car Stereo

You could possible make a claim in small claims court against the garage owner if his signs did not make you aware that he claimed no responsiblility for theft or damage. The message on the receipt is probably not adequate.
