Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
My mom has a signed agreement with a contractor for a roof that states "replacement of all plywood" & she paid $9,000.00 but is holding 1,000.00 because contractor did not replace all but just a couple as he felt they were still good. Now she received a phone call from an attorneys office stating they will place a lien on her house & have her pay atty fees if she does not give him $1,000.00. Should she give in? I say it is a breach of contract but I'm scared she will lose her home. We have pictures of poor workmanship during & after job & feel he did not do what we agreed to.

Depends on what the contract says. However, if he sues and he has not performed all of his duties, he may not prevail.
Are you sure the people who called you were lawyers? Lawyers usually write letters so they can document what they said and when they said it to you.
My suggestion is that you verify that the people who called you were really lawyers and not bill collectors.
