Money for replacement vehicle

My daughter was the victim of a hit & run. The driver returned to the scene about 30 minutes later & was charged with DWI. Her car was totaled and the value is only $2771.00. Unfortunately having much difficulty finding a reliable replacement car for that amount of money. Should I try to take him to court to try to get additional money to aid in obtaining a relaible vehicle?

If that is the fair market value of the car at the time of the accident, that is all you are going to get. That is all you are entitled to.
