Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

My parents live next to neighbors that have been hostile to them for several years now. Until recently, this has mainly taken the form of verbal sparring. However, today the neighbor punched my father in the head after a dispute about my father allegedly getting his fertilizer on their property. He did not fight back and immediately went into the house. My father does not want the police involved since they both work in the same industry, he is afraid of being sued (defamation of character, false charges, etc.) as well as the fact that the assault did not leave a mark. Is there some form of papers the neighbors could be served with to put them on notice not to interact with my parents in the future?

whatever is done legally involves your father. No lawyer would take a case on request of a person other than the one assaulted in conditions described.
