Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Personal Property

I was ask to keep a big screen tv because the person was moving to another state Al. I had the TV for over 6mos with/in 4mos of having the TV I decided to move from Tx to La. I was not able to contact the person with the TV because her phone was disconnected and she did not leave a forwarding address. I am friends with her cousin who was also not able to contact her. I tried for 2mos and finally just sold the TV. Almost a month after I moved she contacted me about the tv. I did adv I could not move it and her cousin did not want it so I sold it for 500.00 she stated she still wanted the tv. I offered to give her 750.00 she. I contacted the person who a I sold it to, she had not paid the full amount and advised she wanted her tv back she agreed to give it back. I gave her the address, name and number of the person with the tv to setup arrangements. This was in July, after 3 attempts of her saying she was going to get the tv and not showing up, 5 mos later she tried to get to the tv but was unable to reach the person who had it. I personally called and found out she had just gotten out of the hospital, she had been in an out for a while and unable to meet the lady. The person then threaten to press charges. What are my options

Re: Personal Property

If you were asked to hold onto the TV for some indeterminate period of time until the person in Alabama wanted it, you owe her one big-screen TV. How you get the original back is your problem. Or you buy a new one that's equivalent.

But if the person said, "I can't take it, it's yours.", then you owe nothing.
