Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Personal property dispute

As part of a former relationship, I bought furniture and had it delivered to my girlfriend's house with whom I stayed. However, after the relationship ended, she kept the funiture and stopped sending me payments for it. She has paid roughly a third of the cost, but I owe the full amount since I purchased the furniture on a store credit card in my name. Since she quit sending me payments, she has moved and I cannot locate a number or address for her. Is there anything I can do to gain my furniture or the money that is owed on it? The amount she has not paid for it is roughly $1400. Should I try to pursue in small-claims court? Is it worth my efforts or is it just a lost cause? Thank you in advance for any insights and help.

Re: Personal property dispute

If you could find her, you could sue her in Small Claims. Her defense is that the furniture was a gift. Small Claims only allows for a money judgment.

Even if you get judgment against her, collection will be difficult if she remains in Texas.

At this point, the decision is purely economic in time and money.
