Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Posting the Rules of the Silent Auction
At a school's recent silent auction, I bid on several items. When I needed to increase my bid, I crossed out the amount and wrote the new amount next to it. I did this after looking at another bid sheet nearby and seeing it done that way. At first, the Chairperson said the highest bidder wins, but the person I was bidding against kept argueing. I lost on all the items because after much ''passing the buck'' they said it had to be the highest bid on the last line. I was the highest bid on the bid sheet. I argued that they should have that posted on the sheet or somewhere. The only instructions on the bid sheet was to write your name clearly or you wouldn't win the item.

Re: Posting the Rules of the Silent Auction
It would have probably helped if they'd posted the rules somewhere.
