Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Prize Money

Local youth fair and livestock show. Son eligible to sell at auction. After the fact, after animal sold, committee deemed it was inellible to sell due to fact that the proper person was not notified that my son was not present at the sale. My daughter sold the calf on his behalf. Bidders buy the calf. Two weeks later we were notified that it was ineligible and that he would forfeight prize money. The calf is gone. We have no money from the sale and no calf either. Question is: If it was ineligible to sell, why did they sell it? Is this legal?

Re: Prize Money

This depends on the rules of the sale. Certainly, whoever sold the calf cannot keep the money. That's called conversion. Big time no-no. Might have to send the nasty lawyer letter. If that doesn't work, might have to sue 'em. Good Luck.
