Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Recovery of property

I was engaged a few years ago and the girl I was engaged to broke off the engagement. She returned the ring and I asked a mutual friend to hold onto it because he had a safe in his house. I have since lost touch with that friend but I have requested he return the ring to me. He has not done so up to this point and I have asked in writing as well as via phone.

He has moved to a different county and I don't know his new address. I do have his phone number and last known address. What recourse do I have? I am confident he still has the ring in his possession. Thank you very much.

Re: Recovery of property

Exercising dominion and control over your property without your permission constitutes theft, and the same conduct would constitute conversion in a civil proceeding. Report the theft to the police. If you want to pursue a civil action consider hiring an attorney.
