Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Registering a Foreign Judgement

I registered a foreign judgement in Texas as I have a judgement from Iowa against someone there. How long do I need to wait before I can file for a writ of garnishment. I talked to the clerk and they said I needed to talk to an attorney regarding time frames. The actual judgement was issued in 11/06 and was filed in 3/07.

Re: Registering a Foreign Judgement

A writ of garnishment may issue at any time. A post-judgment writ can be issued on the date of judgment. The judgment will be final in 30 days in any court other than Justice or Small Claims. Those will be final in 10 days.
