Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Slander/Defamantion of Character

My x-employer is saying untrue statements about my work ethic that has caused me to lose a large client in town. The client has said in a voice mail (of which I have) that they heard these untruths from the x-employer. Many other untruths have been said to damage my character. What recourse, if any, do I have?

I agree with Mr. Evans advice. Also, if you have an attorney to write the letter for you, it probably will make a more lasting impression. If a lawsuit becomes necessary, I would point out that the statute of limitations for defamation actions in Texas is only one year.

I fully agree with Mr. Evans and Mr. White. I would also ask your client if they would be willing to testify, if it came to a lawsuit.
