Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Taken to small claims court in another state
Can someone in one state take someone else from another state to small claims court? If so, how would the defendant have the court hear his side of the story when cost of travel to that state would be way more then the ''filed claim''?

Re: Taken to small claims court in another state
The answer to your first question is, "Yes". The answer to your second is as follows:
The first thing you file with the court is called a plea to the jurisdiction where you set forth why suit is improper in that court, and you also file a written answer to the lawsuit stating why you don't owe the money claimed.
