Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

small claims judgments and interest acquired

Hello,

I have a judgment from small claims court in Texas. I now live in North Carolina. I understand from research the judgment is good for 10 years, however can you tell me if there is a maxium amount charged for interested on the judgment. Mine says 10 percent per year. Does it have a year limit or amount limit? Thank you.

Re: small claims judgments and interest acquired

Ten percent per year compounded on the judgment. There's no cap on the amount of interest that can be accumulated.

The judgment can be extended for another ten years, if needed, by swearing out a writ of levy and sale before the ten years runs.
