Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Source for content of filing

I am trying to find a copy of a lawsuit (I guess it is called a petition) filed in Houston, Texas State District Court. How can I acquire a copy since it is public information after it is filed?

Thank you for providing me with an answer.

If you have the cause number, call the District Clerk's office, tell them you want a copy, inquire of the fee and send the clerk a U.S. Postal Money Order and a stamped, return envelope.

Contact the Harris County Clerk of Court. They have an index in which they can look up the document you want by the names involved.

You are entitled to a copy if this is not a juvenile matter or sealed by the court for some other reason.

There is usually a charge of $1.00 per page or so.

If you have problems getting what you need from the Clerk of Court Email us and we will put you in touch with our Houston associate.
