Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
being sued
I have received a citation. Being sued. Do I need an attorney before going to the county clerk to file (respond)?

Perhaps the other side has an attorney. So if you want to contest this matter against an experienced and professional lawyer, feel free. You don't have to have a lawyer to file a response - presuming you know how do it correctly. Good Luck.

No, you don't absolutely "need" an attorney to file an answer - just as you don't "need" a doctor to remove your appendix!
Re: being sued
I think these guys adequately made my point. The last pro se litigant I faced was in federal court and the judge granted me a $75,000 sanction against him. I also got the choice later between having him thrown in jail for failure to pay or forced into bankruptcy.
