Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
suing
I am a child care worker and was told by my superviser that parents can sue other parents if they feel their child is at a risk. I work with children under six years of age. Can a parent of a two year old sue the parents of an 18 month old for biting? Is it possible to sue the parents of young children for the act that the child did?

Actually, anyone may sue anybody for anything, so long as they have the filing fee. Making the lawsuit stick is another matter entirely. I seriously doubt that the courts would hold an 18-month old responsible for biting another child, or hold the parents of the biter responsible for the actions of a child so young. But age being a defense is not an absolute. If the child has a reputation for biting and the parents don't take care to break him of that nasty habit, they may be held responsible.
