Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Towing a car on your property
I let a friend who lives in an apartment complex park his non-running car in my driveway to avoid it being towed. It was supposed to be moved in two weeks. Two months later with him never checking on the car he came over and accused us of scratching it, an inch in a half scratch that was there already and the paint is scratched all over. After blowing up and causing a scene he left and we have not heard from him again. My question is how can I go about towing the car or legally telling him to move it. Should I send him a certified letter or just a verbal warning, what action should I take?

Re: Towing a car on your property
I would suggest sending him a letter, certified mail return receipt requested, stating that if he doesn't remove his car from your driveway by a certain date, you will have it moved out into the street and not be responsible for it. I'd give him ten days to take care of it.
If he hasn't gotten his car from you by the date, move it out into the street and off your driveway.
