Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
My wife and I both have concealed handgun licenses. We live in Dallas Texas and are exploring the idea of pre paid legal insurnace from a firm in Houston. I the event we had to defend ourselves they would provide counsel after the incident, at the grand jury and if necesssry provide a defense if it went to trail. We are looking for other firms that may provide the same services. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. Charlie

Without looking at the actual contract/policy, I would not be able to tell you if it is worth the cost. Check with your homeowner's policy agent. Homeowner's insurance covers you for many lawsuits, not just your home. Also you should ask about an umbrella policy that covers much more at a very low cost. Insurance policies sometimes may be better that a pre-paid legal plan. Before you decide, compare your options.
If you are interested in researching another legal insurance provider, try the Texas Legal Protection Plan. You can read more about their plans at www.tlpp.org.
