Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Over the last year and a half my neighbor has called the sherriffs dept. on me and my family no less than 15 times from everthing from my wife waving at her to her saying she saw me shoot her dog and everything in between. She has infered cameras in three places on her home focused on our property that has not shown any of this to be true. I was arrested for shooting her dog and killing it, featured on the Dallas Fort worth news for this, and we have been embarrassed in ways unimaginable. She has gone to other neighbors and told them I have shot thier dog, and thier dog has never been shot by anyone. There was a search warrant executed on our home which nothing was found. I have been arrested for shooting the dog and released on 25,000 dollars bond, no charges have ever been filed, and I have just found out that this is all about to be dropped by the district attorney's office. Do I possibly have a civil case recourse against this neighbor?

Truth conquers...file a lawsuit for defamation/libel and false arrest..etc..but it is not free..ie most lawyers would want a retainer, no contingency....because she may have no nonexempt assets..but based on your claim...one would think the district attorney would have her charged with false information..so why not?...we would have to really investigate all before accepting such cases as they are expensive..but if you arrange for 25k bond at cost of 2500...it may be worth it to you to stop her..what do your lawyers say? I would trust them..if I were you
