Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Three years ago I had a small business (S Corp). An elderly lady fell on the way down the inside stairs of my restaurant (railings and carpet). She refused an ambulance. My insurance company ruled that it was not my fault and wouldn't pay for her doctor's visit. The corp now belongs to a friend who is not in business anymore. The elderly lady has now brought a civil lawsuit against me personally. Can she do this? I thought I was protected under the corp?

If she brought suit against you more than two years after the event happened, her claim is barred by the statute of limitations, regardless of the corporation.

Otherwise, an attorney needs review the suit and related facts to determine whether the suit against you is proper..

In any event, you need to promptly hire an attorney to answer the suit and defend you.
