Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
Application for citizenship, Form N400
I sent my application for citizenship to the US citizenship Services. The application was received on July 13, 2007 with a check of $400.00 ( $330.00 + $80.00 fingerprint fee); by certified mail with a retuned receipt. The deadline for the new fee $675.00 was July 30, 2007.
The US citizenship & Immigration Services waited until the July 31, 2007 to cash my check of $400.00.
I just received a letter from them telling me that my application was received on July 31, 2007 therefore I have a balance due of $275.00 + $80.00 fingerprint fee.
Can you tell me if I have a case here and what I should do to prove my case and avoid to pay any extra fee.

Send them a letter with a copy of the green card indicating that they received the package on July 13, 2007. Send it CMRRR. Bluntly, however, it may be a fight not worth fighting and winning. By doing so, it might significantly delay the processing of your application.
