Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

Asylee Relative petition

My file of my family petition has transferred from Texas Service Center to San Francisco asylum office location for processing. I am wondering why my filed was transferred after one year of my petition?

Re: Asylee Relative petition

There are a lot of questions on what the nature of your petition would be, before determining what would make your file be transferred from Houston to San Francisco. You have not told me whether the petition is either before the CIS or a judge. You first start by saying it's a family-based petition, then you say it's an asylum petition. Have you had a change of counsel from Texas to California? Have you contacted your attorney, if you have one? If before a judge, a change of venue can only come by request by one of the parties--either your lawyer (you)or the CIS, and then only upon "good cause" shown to the judge. Has such a request been made? Otherwise, I am in the dark about your question.

There are many questions I would have to ask you to answer in order to advise you properly. If you are in need of counsel, you may contact me at [email protected], so we may schedule a telephonic appointment to discuss your case. Best to you.
