Is a child born in Mexico to US parents but raised in the US automatically considered a US citizen?

When a child is born abroad, even to two US citizens, there is a presumption that the child is not a US citizen. However, the parents can overcome this presumption by meeting eligibility and filing a certificate of citizenship for their child (N-600). Check the USCIS website under Form N-600 and read instructions carefully or talk to an attorney.
