Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
federal offense
my brother was convicted of a felony in 1999 it was his first offense ever and resulted in deportation he had a permanent residence card. he has been in the US since he was about 7 yrs old and now has a family of his own here. he is now waiting to see a federal judge in court because of 3 illegal re-entries. would we be wasting our money hiring a lawyer to reduce federal time if any? also would to know how much time he's looking at and if he would ever have a chance to retain his permanent resident card again

Re: federal offense
No you are not wasting money, as a good federal defense lawyer can negotiate a better plea for him. It is unlikely he will ever regain his green card, but it really depends upon the outcome of the current cases, as well as the prior felony.
