Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

Filing the I-600A while adjusting status of husband

I am a US citizen. My husband is Canadian. We just filed his AOS a few weeks ago. I want to file a I-600A and all it says is 1 spouse has to be a US citizen. I did see some websites where it says the other spouse has to have 'lawful immigration status'. What does that mean exactly? Will I have to wait until he has his green card in hard or can I file while he's adjusting his status?

Thanks fo ryou help!

That depends. Is he currently in status? For example, if he has a valid TN visa, then you can file the I-600A, while adjusting his status. His current status has to be a valid one. If not, then you need to wait until the I130 and I485 are approved.
