Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
Foreign Passport
I am a US resident Born in Corpus Christi, Texas. I have 2 children Born after 2003 in Chihuahua, Mexico. Recently I called USCISA and they stated that I could applied for US Passport for my children. I went to my local postoffice where they gave a checklist of things that I would require and there was one question that I am stuck with. Children evidence of lawful admission (foreign passport with INS stamp I-551 or permanent alien resident card). The children have thier mexican passports, help me clarify in what they are saying here in this statement. That the I-551 stamp could be required to be stamp on the childrens mexican passorts?

Re: Foreign Passport
Are you the mother of the children, or the father of the children who was married to the mother at the time of their birth? (If not, it is still possible to correct the situation). If so, you are an American citizen by birth, and although your children were born in Mexico, they are American citizens by virtue of your citizenship. The problem is proving it. USCIS has a process where they issue a certificate of citizenship to the children. Without it, they will encounter many difficulties, including getting a US passport.
