Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

Name and gender marker change for the transgender

How do I get my name and gender marker changed on my green card prior to gender reassignment surgery? Is it possible to get this done before having my foreign passport/ID's changed? Which USCIS form should I use? And, what supporting documents will I need? Thanks. Any information will be deeply appreciapted.

Although I have not handled this particular situation, it would be my opinion that USCIS is not going to reissue your green card until after the surgery. It would seem appropriate to ask for renewal/replacement based upon changed information. You will probably need to provide physician statement of the change, and probably a district court order on the name change.
