Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
My girlfriend is from Turkey and is here on a work/travel visa. She wants to stay but we do not know her options short of us getting married. What are other routes we can take? Also she plans on attenting school here but first must improve her English.
1 Answer from Attorneys
If she is legally working for a U.S. employer, presumably on an H-1B visa, then that employer could petition her for a greencard, through the labor certification process.
If she has a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident parent, then they could petition her for a greencard.
Generally, other than that, marriage to a U.S. citizen is the most expedient option for U.S. Legal Permanent Residency.
There are also other options for temporary, non-immigrant visas, depending on her qualifications, etc.
