Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
Green card
Good evening!
My mother has been a permanent resident for over 40 years. She is 67 years old. She needs to travel to Mexico City because her mother is ill. However, I noticed that her green card expired over a year ago. She did not know it needed to re-newed. Ins has informed me that it will take baout a year for her to get her new card. What can I do in the meantime, is there any thing else we can do so she can leave and not have trouble returning?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Re: Green card
She needs to file the I-90 to renew her card, and at the same time file for advance parole. She should not leave the US unless the advance parole is approved. Depending upon the circumstances, she could get a response to the advance parole within 90 days.
