Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas
husband arrested
I have been married to him almost four years, I am a US citizen born and raised. We have a 3 year old daughter. He was arrested and is now being held on an immigration hold. What does this mean and what can I do. Noone seems to know except to hire a lawyer which right now, I am acting as a single parent and that will be hard with one income. He has been here illegal about 7 years and worked for the last 6 at the same job paying taxes. Any help is greatly appreciated, I am lost and don't know what to do at this point.

Re: husband arrested
You do need a lawyer.
If his arrest was solely an immigration (and not a criminal) matter, then immigration is holding him for further proceedings. They will ask him to sign papers to be voluntarily departed. IF his original entry to the US was legal, then you should file a petition for alien relative and simultaneous application for legal residency. At this point it is best to file with the court, and ask for cancellation of removal. You REALLY need a lawyer to do this for you. Many lawyers will work on payment plans. Start making phone calls.
